2×2 inches in every unit you'll need
The pixel figure depends on print resolution, which is where most confusion comes from: 2×2 inches at 300 dpi is exactly 600×600 pixels, and at 600 dpi it is 1200×1200. Both are accepted for a US visa upload — which is why the 600×600 px photo page and this one describe the same square in different units.
